Employee Wellness Takes a Charitable Turn | Waupaca Foundry
Employee wellness took a charitable turn in this season of giving at Waupaca Foundry. Employees logged steps in the Waupaca Gives Back Steps Challenge and the foundry in turn made donations to specific regional organizations. Waupaca Foundry is committed to creating a healthy workplace through programs that support individuals on the team and creating healthy communities by supporting local initiatives.
"We are blessed to have a company like Waupaca that provides leadership in the community and that realizes the importance of the work done by our area nonprofits. They donate generously to ensure their work continues to touch the lives of their friends and neighbors in Perry County." Rebecca Fenn of the Tell City Christmas Basket.
Team members who participated logged a minimum of 50,000 steps throughout a four-week challenge that started in October and each facility selected its own non-profit beneficiary. The amount the Foundry contributed was based on the number of steps logged by participating employees. Thanks to great participation, organizations receiving funds are:
- Old Glory Honor Flight, Waupaca, Wis.
- Emergency Rescue Squad, Marinette, Wis.
- Kiwanis Christmas Basket, Tell City, Ind.
- Etowah Christmas Project, Etowah, Tenn.
- Shop with a Cop, Effingham, Ill.
- Kickin' Attitudes; Raising Energy (K.A.R.E.), Lawrenceville, Penn.
"Our people are our most important asset," said Kirk Kallio Waupaca Foundry director of human resources. "Creating a healthy work environment, supporting individuals' wellness goals and supporting local charitable organizations is a win-win for everyone."
The regional non-profits are thankful for the support from one of their community's top employers.
"Not only does Waupaca provide jobs/livelihoods for families in our area, they continually work with our schools to provide internships and support other educational opportunities for our youth."
Rebecca Fenn of the Tell City Christmas Basket.
Thanks to all team members who participated and helped Waupaca Foundry continue to support charitable programs!
